Roman Trail

The Roman Empire's eastern edge included Armenian lands during the first and second century CE. Roman influence continued for several centuries beyond. Sights along this trail include the 6th c. ruins of Zvartnots temple, Areni and its wine making traditions dating back over 6000 years, and the restored temple at Garni - the only surviving Greco-Roman (pagan) temple in Armenia - which was mentioned first as a fortress in the 1st c. CE.
