Length: 80-100 cm, Wing Span: 130-160 cm
General description: Breeding adult is black with green gloss on upperparts. Mostly has a white head and white oval patches on thighs. Lacks the green gloss and white patches during the post-breeding season.
Abundance and habitat: Uncommon species of resident birds. Occurs in rivers, lakes and fish ponds. Nests in colonies on trees ad rivers.
Food: fish
Status: Listed in Armenia’s Red Data Book, categorized as “vulnerable”. Protected by the RA law on fauna.
