Hairavank Monastery
Hairavank was founded in the area of a settlement (2nd-1st millennium BCE– 18th c.) lying along the shore of Lake Sevan.

History
Hairavank
The monastery was established during the reign of Syunik kings, who controlled the area during the 9th and 10th centuries. It witnessed a second blossoming in the 12th century, during the Zakarian period, when the gavit and additional chapels were built.
Church. The church has a quatrefoil (literally, “four petals”, or four apses) design. The apses are semicircular and unique for keeping their pronounced quatrefoil appearance on the exterior. The apses also serve as horseshoe-shaped buttresses for the square on which the drum and dome is placed. Both the drum and dome were destroyed and rebuilt in the 18th-19th cc.
