Hairavank was founded in the area of a settlement (2nd-1st millennium BCE– 18th c.) lying along the shore of Lake Sevan.

Khachkars and Standing Stones

Khachkars and Standing Stones 

Surrounding the church are a number of finely cut khachkars, dating from the 10th c. A few older stones can also be found, including pieces of stelae that were cut from Bronze Age Vishaps (Dragon Stone).
