Introduction
Introduction
The vank was founded in 911 by Vahan, son of Prince Dzaghik of Kapan, who is reported to have taken the monk’s robe to cure himself of demonic possession (Stepanos Orbelian, History of Siunik). Attracting 100 like-minded acolytes, he had the original S. Grigor Lusavorich church built, and was buried near the western doorway.
