The large portico

The large portico

The large portico ran the length of the church and gavit, covering a total of 142 square meters. Like the gavit, the portico floor was paved with royal gravestones: King Smbat II, King Grigor I, Queen Sophie, Queen Dinar, Prince Ashot Jrvanshir, Khaghbak and others. An inscription from 1046 was also found in the portico during excavations.
